Preparing for the Spring Holy Days

Greetings from Helena!

Today (Friday) it has been snowing off and on most of the day, and although the snowplows have gone by a number of times, the streets are definitely snow covered. (The photo above is of snowing falling on our spruce tree a few minutes ago when I started working on this eNewsletter.) The snowfall is expected to taper off this evening, so we are still planning to head to Belgrade for Bible Study tomorrow morning, then on to Billings for Sabbath services at 3 p.m.

ONLINE BIBLE STUDY

This past week we finished Mark 13l in our Wednesday night online Bible Study. I appreciate the comments those attending are making in the second half discussion portion. This week we will move into the final hours of Jesus’ life – the Passover with his disciples, trial crucifixion, etc. This will be very timely as we are less than four weeks from Passover and the Days of Unleavened Bread.

This Sabbath and for the remaining Sabbaths leading up to the Spring Holy Days I will be focusing my messages on them. This Sabbath I will be focusing on “discerning the Lord’s body” from 1st Corinthians:

1 Corinthians 11:28 NKJV – But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
1 Corinthians 11:29 NKJV – For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

There are many articles and sermons and study aids available on the main UCG.ORG website that would be helpful as you “examine” yourself. Here are a few:

https://www.ucg.org/bible-study-tools/booklets/gods-holy-day-plan-the-promise-of-hope-for-all-mankind

A Bible Study series I plan to go through on the UCG Home Office site is Six Steps to Passover: https://www.ucg.org/beyond-today/beyond-today-bible-study/six-steps-to-passover

There are many other helpful resources available. Certainly reading the last chapters of the gospel of John and as well as the last chapters of the other gospel would be a great place to start. If you need additional direction, please let me know and I’d be happy to assist you.

We wish you all a good, restful, and spiritual refreshing Sabbath! If Val or I can be of any service or help, please don’t hesitate to call, text or email!

Warm regards,
Dan
