US Pride in Our Power Being Broken

Dear Friends,

I hope this finds you all doing well!  Certainly it is warmer this weekend than last, which is a nice change from the frigid temperatures.

Friday Montana was in the national news as a Chinese Spy Balloon floated across the state and even causing the Billings Airport to cease operations for two hours. Many news articles have appeared online about this.  One of the biggest questions is why it hasn’t been destroyed? Others ask why was it allowed to come into our airspace? Although China claims it is just a weather balloon that has strayed off course, our military is saying it is definitely a spy balloon.

Leviticus 26:19 NKJV – I will break the pride of your power…

In Leviticus 26 God outlines blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience. In verse 19 He says that HE will break the pride of our power. I believe this incident with the spy balloon is another instance where we as a nation are being humbled on the international stage.  We are showing that although we have military might and strength, we are not too fast to use it.  This event, some claim, by our lack of action will further embolden our enemies. It can also be viewed that our President it intimidated by China and doesn’t want to upset them.  This, along with other events and natural disasters, show us that God is not pleased with our nation and is fulfilling the things He said He would do if we forsake Him.

As it saddens me, I’m sure our country becoming less Godly and suffering the consequences saddens you, too. I suspect it also saddens many others.  Let’s beseech God that this and other events that are befalling our nation will cause people to turn back to Him, and seek Him. And that He will draw them to Jesus Christ and show them how to live in manner pleasing to Him.

John 6:44 NKJV – “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.

2 Peter 3:9 NKJV – The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Yes, the spy balloon over Montana is a minor incident. But it is symbolic of God breaking the pride of our power.  Let’s all strive to both be diligently watching world events and to live in a manner pleasing to God.

Luke 21:34 NKJV – “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly.

Luke 21:35 NKJV – “For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth.

Luke 21:36 NKJV – “Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

We wish you all a good, restful, and spiritual refreshing Sabbath!  If Val or I can be of any service or help, please don’t hesitate to call, text or email!

Warm regards,
Dan
