Summary
This message examines current global conflicts through the lens of biblical prophecy, reminding believers that God remains sovereign even during times of turmoil. While nations today enter new periods of warfare, Scripture foretold that such events would occur before the return of Christ. Jesus warned in Matthew 24 that there would be wars and rumors of wars, deception in religion, and increasing global instability. These events correspond with the prophetic imagery in Revelation of the Four Horsemen, representing deception, war, famine, and widespread death.
The sermon explains that while these events may be alarming, they are described in Scripture as “the beginning of birth pains.” They signal that the world is moving toward the culmination of God’s plan, but they do not mean the end will occur immediately. The scale of prophesied destruction—including the potential loss of a quarter of the world’s population—shows that many of the most severe events have not yet occurred.
At the same time, the message emphasizes that national decline and suffering are often tied to spiritual disobedience. Deuteronomy 28 warns that when people abandon God’s commandments, they bring curses upon themselves—confusion, defeat, oppression, and national instability. The clear counterpoint throughout these warnings is simple: obey God, do not forsake Him, and serve Him with joy and gratitude.
Prophetic passages in Daniel, Matthew, and Revelation describe a future period of intense tribulation, including the appearance of the “abomination of desolation” and a time of unparalleled suffering. Yet Scripture also promises that God will intervene and that some of His people will be protected. Jesus instructed believers to remain spiritually alert, watch world events carefully, and pray so they may be counted worthy to escape the worst of these trials.
Ultimately, the sermon reassures believers that God is still on His throne and fully in control of history. Though the world may become more chaotic and ungodly, God reveals His plans through the prophets so His people will not be caught unaware. Those who fear Him, keep His covenant, and trust in His promises can live without fear, confident that God will never leave nor forsake them.
The central message is one of watchfulness, obedience, and faith: recognize the signs of the times, remain faithful to God’s commandments, and trust that His kingdom will ultimately prevail.
